Straight from London, physician comes England’s latest, see greatest music export Bombay Bicycle Club. Their single “Always Like This” from their 2009 debut, link is our Song of the Week over here at Radio Unleashed.
This song really caught me off guard. A good friend has been recommending Bombay Bicycle Club to me for a few months now. I finally gave in last week and am now wondering how my iPod has been living without these guys.
Indie Folk Done Right
The song ‘Always Like This’ starts out with a great bass groove and sincere lyrics, and never loses that steam. At parts of the song it almost has the classic funk feel. Hearing it makes me picture James Brown wearing flannel and thick rimmed glasses.
Other great tracks from these guys include their new single “Shuffle” from their latest album ‘A Different Kind of Fix.’
Bombay Bicycle Club, The Wiki
Reading up on how young these guys are makes me want to trade my life of blogging for a guitar. They started playing together at 15 years old in 2006, and in 2007 they entered and won Virgin Mobile’s ‘Road to V Contest’.
From there they were propelled into the musical stratosphere of Indie Rock. They signed with a label and have recorded 3 full-length albums since then. As well as of course playing all sorts of shows and festivals around world.
Always Like This
Thanks for checking out our song of the week. Take a listen to Bombay Bicycle Club ‘Always Like This’ and if you’re looking for more check out their newest single ‘Shuffle’.
Lyrics
Oh she can wait,
For what I can give,
She knows what I am but,
She won’t believe me,
Is it all ok?
Will I come off the lightest?
I can’t believe it,
It’s always like this,
Kept it at bay
Yes you kept your words
There on your mouth
But it’s not what I heard
If I follow the light
That I deem the brightest
I won’t believe that
It’s always like this
I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all
[Repeat]
I’m not whole
Oh you can wait
For what I can give
You know what I am
So you know how I live
Try to look proud
But you’re not in the slightest
Its happening now
And it’s always been like this
